This online course will look at the requirements detailed in Section 722 of BS 7671:2018 (Amendment 1) as well as the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation, 4th Edition.
- Introduction to electric vehicles - terminology used, charging modes 1 to 4, voltage and current, socket-outlets and vehicle connectors used
- BS7671 and EV charging. The requirements of Section 722 (Amendment 1 2020)
- Dangers of PME (TN-C-S) supply types, earthing and exposed conductive parts
- Designing EV installations, pre installation considerations, notifications and suitability of earthing, existing equipment and location
- Requirements for public TT, TN-S and TN-C-S supply systems and TT charging points
- Considerations of installations in dwellings, on-street, commercial and industrial and explosive environments (ie petrol stations)
- Inspection & testing and certification, including maintenance requirements, commissioning and DNO paperwork
- Extra sessions covering vehicles as power storage, SMART infrastructure and wireless charging
